Alternative assessment to Limits unit in Honors Pre-Calculus
Group Project
Description: Students were given a copy of the Traditional Limits Test. The students were asked to work through the test together discovering the main concepts that one would need to know to do well on the test. Student tasks include: identify the concepts, find example problems that would be useful in their tutorial videos. storyboard the video sequence so that a viewer would watch the videos in the proper order, create video lessons for each concept, find appropriate links to videos for non limit concepts that may be needed to understand the examples within their videos(include in their video at the appropriate time), write a script for each video, use software to record voice over the video.
Upon completion of the videos student groups are to upload their videos and any relevant materials to their weebly portfolio.
Peer reviews/assessment: Students are responsible to access at least 2 other groups project, watch the videos and write an online review for each. Student feedback should be well thought out, articulate and accurate assessing the quality of the instruction and the accuracy of content and delivery.
